The first training led by APIE Lead Practitioner Rachel Duncan happened on the 5th and 6thof April 2017.Teachers from Kicukiro District were invited to take part in a two-day training on Special Education Needs. 8 public schools from Niboye, Kanombe, Kicukiro and Gatenga sectors attended the training and one private school teacher from Gasabo district also attended. Based on the participant’s feedback further training will be carried out over three days in August and November focusing on further strategies to support learners with an impairment, for example differentiation in the classroom and how to communicate effectively.
