This term we have been extremely lucky to have many visitors at school, thanks to APIE. The term started with a Head Teacher exchange, with Martyn Vandewalle visiting from The Wroxham School and Umubano’s Head Teacher, Jean De Dieu, returning the visit to the UK in May. APIE’s Founder, Brooks and Trustee, Lucy, also visited us and gave support in many areas, particularly in sharing new Art techniques with the teachers. The focus for June has been on Research and evaluating where the school is at in terms of its commitments to certain values. Sandy and Yuki, both Masters students from Sussex University, undertook research projects at school looking at Inclusive Education and In-service teacher training. Whilst she was here, Sandy, an experienced Speech and Language Therapist, was also able to run a workshop for Nursery teachers on Communication. On returning to England, she sent out some special equipment to support us with a student in Nursery who has Autism.
We are incredibly appreciative of the ongoing support we receive from all our partners. This term has demonstrated the progress that can be achieved in a short period of time and we want to thank everyone who has contributed to this success.
