Girls in Science

On 11th Feb every year, the world celebrates the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. ​

On this occasion the world marks the role of Science and gender equality in Sustainable Development. The theme for this year was: "Investment in Women and Girls in Science for Inclusive Green Growth". In the morning breakfast organised by RAWISE (Rwandan Association for Women in Science and Engineering) at Lemigo Hotel in Kigali, women scientists shared their experiences and they called upon young girls to step out of fear and take on science. Secondary school girls were inspired to join the science world.

​Umubano Academy was honoured to be one of the three schools that were invited in this event. Many good messages were discussed like: Science is not hard, Science is not only for boys and men, Girls have potential…This matches with what we do at Umubano Academy where we include every child and make sure that he/ she reaches his/her full potential.
